TV Program

On the 8th of December 2000 PYALARA's members prepared and broadcasted a TV show on Palestine TV on the occasion of the international Broadcasting Day for Children. The program was the outcome of a trilateral cooperation between PYALARA, UNICEF and Palestine TV. It was an opportunity for children and youngsters to deliver their message to other children on this occasion.

A team of children interviewed officials such as the Minister of Culture and Information Mr.Yasser Abd Rabo, the General Secretary of MIFTAH Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, Special Representative of UNICEF Mrs. Marlene Viviani, Acting Education Minister Dr. Naem Abu Al Humus, and Head of the Preventive Health department Dr. Asad Rimlaoui.

The TV Program included reports about the youngsters' opinion of Palestine TV and its programs, the influence of the present political crises on the lives of Palestinian children and the hopes and wishes of children for Christmas, Eid Al-Fiter, and the New Year.

With the escalation of confrontations and political developments less attention is given to children and youth regarding their chance to voice their concerns and share their opinions in discussing their participation in society. With the support of UNICEF and with the cooperation of Palestine TV, PYALARA organized a series of successive Sunday TV programs conducted and dedicated for children and youth on the occasion of Palestinian Child's Day (5 April). The month's adage was "Bidna Tufouleh" (we want our childhood). The youth and children themselves were involved in all stages of the program starting with the preparatory meetings, conducting interviews, selecting program's themes and topics and finally leading live conversations and various information and entertainment items.

Each episode of this series of programs carried out a major theme: education, children's talents, health and children's awareness about their rights. These topics were covered through interviewing students, parents and officials, shooting footage and hosting specialists during the live show.
This program gave youth and children space to express their opinions and participate through Palestinian media. Moreover it created attention towards children's rights to smile, to enjoy some good times and allow a space for laughter, for childhood and for innocence.
