Learning Legal Rights In Times of Conflict

This project comes as a follow-up of last year’s training and workshops on the IHL and the role of the ICRC and the PRCS in the region. This project involves giving refreshment sessions to the cadre (18 young people) who took part in the last year’s project in the basic rules of the International humanitarian law in times of conflicts so that they can repeat the same experience and spread awareness among their peers through workshops and game-like techniques about this issue.

This project aims to:

  • Involve the last year’s cadre of Young Palestinian Leaders who were informed of the International humanitarian law principles.

  • Disseminate the cadre’s knowledge to their peers with the present of representatives from the ICRC who will be ready to comment and answer queries.

  • Create a platform for debating the issue of humanitarian law in times of conflict.

  • Develop youth capacity to promote awareness in the field of human law during conflicts.

  • Maintain recommendations from Palestinians on International Humanitarian law in times of conflicts.

PYALARA provided a six-day training for the cadre of 18 students including both the new participants and those who had already attended last year’s training. The students were carefully selected from Birzeit University, An-Najah University and Al-Quds University. Three of the participants were school pupils in their 11 grade. The training was held in Dahiyet Al Barid area involving all participants whether those from Nablus area as well as participants from Jerusalem and Ramallah area. In doing so, PYALARA, through the trained cadre, will disseminate information on the international humanitarian law in times of conflict through workshops organized and held in summer camps during schools’ vacation.
