PYALARA, as a youth organization that
caters for the well-being of young Palestinians, felt
that the physical health of young people is extremely
important to be part of the empowerment process.
Deriving from the conviction that the person who has
health, has hope, and who ever has hope has everything,
PYALARA designed the Youth 4 Health program,
which aims at raising the awareness of adolescents,
young people and newly weds on special health issues.
Young Palestinian volunteers were
trained in a number of health issues like hygiene,
nutrition, respiratory infections, diarrhea, and birth
giving and breastfeeding through raising the awareness
of their peers.
PYALARA, as in the various well-being
projects, works through a comprehensive peer-to-peer
approach. The young people are trained to raise the
awareness of their peers on the health issues, working
in underprivileged areas. Afterwards, the beneficiaries
are engaged in the production and broadcasting of TV
episodes that tackle those health issues.
One the organizational level, PYALARA
expanded its area of activation within the Youth 4
Health project, especially when working in 13 remote
locations within the West Bank.
