
“Freedom of the Press and Freedom of Information”

Out of its
belief in building the capacity of the Palestinian Youth
in general and its cadre in particular, PYALARA
participated in the “ Freedom of the Press and Freedom
of Information” Seminar which was held in Theodor Hessus
Academy in Germany through Rania Atallah, 24 year old
reporter and sub editor in the “Youth Times” newspaper.
Around 24
participants attended the seminar, where each shared
with the others information about the media situation in
his/her country. In addition, participants were
introduced to journalism in Germany Ms. Corinna Blumel,
chairperson of the German association of journalist,
explained to the participants the complicated German
media system and press council. Whereas, Mr. Heinrich
Bergstresser, a German history specialist, explained to
the participants the German history, the War World I,
The War World II, and the German complicated election
system. Participants also lived technical and practical
journalistic experiences.
On the other
hand, participants had the opportunity of visiting some
German strong public media stations, German museums and
the left part of the wall which used to separate between
the West and East Germany
About her
experience, Mss. Atallah says that it enriched her
knowledge, developed her personality and enlarged her
relationships.
