PYALARA Participates in the
“UNRWA Hosts and Donors” Meeting
Amman, Jordan 11 and 12 December 2006
 

PYALARA was invited by UNRWA  to participate at its Annual Hosts and Donors Meeting which was held in Amman 11-12 December, in a Panel on Youth Empowerment.

 The Panel was  chaired by Mr. Lex Takkenberg, who is the former Field Director of UNRWA in Syria and the current Director of Operational Support based at UNRWA Headquarters in Amman.

PYALARA’s speaker, Nadine Ali, presented a PowerPoint through which the audience was informed about Pyalara's activities, especially how it empowers and gives youth a voice through the media.  Also about its current cooperation with UNRWA and how it foresees opportunities for strengthening that cooperation. 

Others participating in this panel were Dr. Dawn Chatty, Reader in Anthropology and Forced Migration, Refugee Study Center at Oxford; Theater Day Productions; and Mr. Wasem from an NGO called the Jafra Centre which works in the refugee camps in Syria.
