Two young members
of PYALARA, Wisam Qaimari from Jerusalem and
Majd Majdalawi from Gaza, accompanied by
PYALARA’s Communication Officer Nadia Badnak,
were amongst those who recently took part in
the ‘Heartbeat’ concert in The Netherlands.
The concert was organized by the Dutch
Broadcasting Company (KRO) and Menisa (a
Dutch NGO and part of Cordaid) in memory 11
September 2001 events.
The concert, which was broadcast live on
Dutch TV, involved the participation of
several Dutch singers along with ten
children from various parts of the world
such as the USA (Manhattan, New York),
Afghanistan, Rwanda, Israel and Palestine,
all of whom sang together in the name of
global peace. The stated aim of the concert
was to allow people to reach out to one
another and encourage them to respect one
another and care about the problems and
agonies of others.
It should be mentioned that the children met
6-11 September in Utrecht/Soest, The
Netherlands. The framework of the activity
was to allocate the consequences of what
happened at the United States on September
11, and to raise a question and appeal for
peace from within the disaster. So that when
talking about the disastrous events of
September 11th, other people who are still
suffering would be remembered as well.
