is a project initiated by PYALARA and aimed
at spreading awareness on human rights as
stipulated by Convention on Rights of
Children (CRC) and International Principles
of Human Rights among pupils (both males
and females) selected from orphanage homes
and vocational schools in Gaza Strip.
Pupils involved in such homes and schools
are marginalized in the sense that they have
plenty of spare time and they are not
targeted by different NGOs. We felt it is
our duty to spread awareness among such
groups.

The project also aimed to provide PYALARA
volunteers (university students) with
practical experience, by holding workshops
to the direct beneficiaries and providing
them with the necessary information and
techniques by means of a participatory and
interactive method, they became more aware
of their rights and were able to voice their
problems to officials and decision makers.
They also were encouraged to make use of
PYALARA media outlets mainly The Youth
Times.
After being involved in a number of
workshops, the direct beneficiaries were
given the opportunity to express what they
have learned either by writing articles or
in form of drawings which were published in
The Youth Times. By doing so, the
benefit was multiplied; the direct
beneficiaries had their voice heard by the
Palestinian public and decision makers, the
written material was used as an educational
tool for the readers of The Youth Times
and well-informed cadres have formed who
would become role models for the rest of
their peers. |
